Timer worked well for about 6 weeks, then the battery goes dead. Dont expect any more than a month or so life from the back up battery. This timer eats batteries! I'm buying another brand of timer!

I bought 2 of these. First one depleted the large button battery in 6 weeks. The outlet, by the way, was on constantly, there's not even a switch on it, and there was no power outages. So I bought a new 2 pack of batteries, energizer, and installed a new battery. In less than 2 months, dead battery. Must be the timer.
So I take the second timer out of the wrapper and decide to use that. In 1 month, dead battery. Install second engergizer battery, it's dead after 7 weeks. If you remove timer from the wall socket, settings are lost. If this thing is going to eat batteries like this, they should have gave it a AA battery slot, at least they'd last longer. I wanted to like this timer, despite the programming being a bit to "techy" you can figure it out, and I really, really wanted it to work well because it does daylight savings, but both units are eating batteries. I can't spend $30 - $40 per year on batteries. If you don't have a problem spending 10 minutes reprogramming it everytime the power is out, which is what I'm doing now, then you should like this timer.

This timer is not entirely intuitive to program, but it is not bad, and it has an easy to understand display. It is also far quieter than a mechanical timer. Unfortunately, it uses a small battery to maintain the settings, and this battery failed in about 4 weeks.
Today I received email from Amazon saying that "Leviton MFG is seeking the return of certain products. These items contain a battery with reduced life. There is no safety concern associated with this product return." Unfortunately, the email from Amazon gives only the general Leviton website. Searching that site for "recall", "reduced battery life", or LT112 turns up nothing. Not a very effective recall effort by Leviton or Amazon.
